Tommy Thomas


Music is Life, and makes life more abundant

H. W. (Tommy) Thomas - Producer, Songwriter, Composer, Vocalist has experienced 30 years of music ministry, recording s and tours. From Gospel to Rock n' Roll, from the Blues to just plain old Soul; he has done it all. Music is his life.

Tommy's Journey began in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska where he served as the Youth Minister of Music for Mount Calvary Community Church in 1968. Later he founded the Katherine Thomas Singers (1970), the Chosen few Ensemble (1974) with whom he recorded the L.P. "Chosen", and HWT and Free (1974).

In 1979, Tommy gained valuable tour experiences as a musician and vocalist on Nil's Lofgren's tour. That same year he he worked with Al Green as musician for the Full House Gospel Temple in Memphis, Tennessee. It was also during this year that Tommy organized Tommy T. & Company in Los Angeles, California with whom he recorded the L. P. "Hold On a Little Longer."

The early 80's found Tommy T. & Co. in a variety of shows that including appearances as the main act at "live at the Ice House" (1981), as the special guest for an Al Green concert (1982), and as the opening act for Quincy Jones during a Tribute to Aretha Franklin (1983).

Tommy wrote and composed "Anytime, Any place, Anywhere" which was recorded by James Cleveland and the Cleveland Singers (1984). He also wrote and co-produced with Harvey Fuqua on several album projects including Peaches and Herb, the "Tribute to Marvin Gaye" L. P., and Silk Leather and Lace.

Appearances continued as a musician with such artist as Bo Didley (Live at the Music Machine, 1987) and in 1988, Tommy toured with the GLO band. While there, he worked as a vocalist on commercials for Lee Jeans and Adidas. He also toured Japan as a solo act in 1989.
