Bishop Booker Talifero McDaniel’s, the 15th child of John and Amanda Mc Daniels was born March 12.
1912 in Coy, Arkansas. By 1924, “Bishop”, had moved to Kansas City Kansas, where he completed his education. Bishop McDaniels went on to higher education by attending Western University @ Kansas City and received his Doctorate of Theology from American Bible College in Chicago, Illinois.
In 1941, Bishop B. T. McDaniels followed the will of God and headed to the state of Nebraska with his family. His first mission was the establishment and pastoring of Denton Chapel which was located at 20th and U Street in Lincoln, Nebraska. His work for the Lord would continue when he moved to Omaha. Here he pastored at the “Home Church” Robinson Memorial which is located at 2318 N. 26th Street. In 1947, Bishop McDaniels was appointment State Overseer by the late Charles H. Mason, Founder of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. He is 2nd to ever hold this position in the state. As State Overseer (Bishop) he would continue to work to the betterment and advancement of the C.O.G.I.C. here in Nebraska. As Overseer, Bishop McDaniels was instrumental in providing transportation for the youth of Omaha through the late Beverly Weed. He continued his works by being the pioneer of a bus ministry, a radio ministry, and a radio choir that his son Eugene McDaniels was a part of and arranged the first state fellowship banquet.
Bishop McDaniels was not only in the business of salvation, he was a humanitarian as well. He was one of the first contributors to the Open Door Mission, worked for Douglas County for numerous years working with wayward boys and often opened his home and heart to those in need.
Bishop B.T. McDaniels served as Overseer from 1947 to his “Homegoing” in 1991. His legacy is captured on the Member of National Bishop’s Board plaque which is located at the Church of God in Christ International Headquarters in Memphis Tennessee.
Even though he is no longer with us, we are blessed to have his loving wife Mother Louise McDaniels “Mother Mac”, his two children, 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grand children.
