Thomas O. Davis began his Boys & Girls Club career in 1963 with Boys & Girls Clubs of Omaha. First hired as a part-time office attendant, Davis held a number of
positions including individual services director, unit director and assistant executive director, before serving as the Club’s executive director until his retirement in 1996.
Davis served on numerous national committees for Boys & Girls Clubs of America, including the National Certification Board, the Task Force on Health and the Human Resources Advisory Committee. Throughout his career, Davis was an active member of the Association of Boys & Girls Club Professionals, serving as chairman of the Iowa / Nebraska Chapter and as national vice president.
In 1987 Davis was recognized as the Academy of Boys & Girls Club Professionals National Professional of the Year for his outstanding service and dedication and he has also been honored with the Herman Prescott Award, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Midwest Heart & Soul Award and the Bronze Keystone Award, among others.
In 2003, Davis was installed as a Master & Mentor of the Academy of Boys & Girls Club Professionals. Induction into the Academy is the highest recognition available to past or present Boys & Girls Club professionals. This honor is bestowed on those men and women who have contributed to the development of career professionals and to the advancement of the Boys & Girls Club movement. During the past 7 seven years at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Conference, only 31 Club professionals of the Movement have been awarded with this prestigious honor.
Tom now resides with his wife Betty in Diamondhead, Mississippi
