Susan A. Buffett is Chairman of The Sherwood Foundation and the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation. The Sherwood Foundation focuses on
several areas including early childhood education for low-income families on both a local and national level and K-12 public education. The Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation (formerly The Buffett Foundation) works globally on women’s health issues and nuclear disarmament.
Susie also serves on several national nonprofit boards including D.A.T.A. (Debt, AIDS, Trade, Africa), Girls Inc. and the Ounce of Prevention Fund. Locally, she serves on the boards of Girls Inc., The Omaha Theater Company for Young People, and the Omaha Airport Authority.
Susie was born and raised in Omaha. She attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln and the University of California Irvine. After living in southern California and Washington, D.C. for 16 years, she returned to Omaha to raise her two children.
